 • DIY musical diversions in Fernie
 Hey people
Thinking of those long cold evenings, was wondering if anyone's vaguely competent on a musical instrument and would be interested in some collaboration while we're out there? Am thinking of taking my guitar. Am certainly no Joe Satriani - in fact I'm not really any good at all, but would be fun to exchange some ideas and play a few songs.... or if anyone really knows how to play maybe they could give me some lessons!?

I think it's a fantastic idea, but I'm afraid my musical talent is limited to wailing along to pop music in the car.

Always room for a triangle player...
Not sure I know what metal skacore is but would be great to find out. I've been playing a few rock'n'roll / folk numbers by the likes of Damien Rice, Steely Dan, Radiohead, Simon & Garfunkel, White Stripes. Although I do have a soft spot for comedy novelty songs (check out Flight of the Conchords - one of my current favourites

). I wonder if Fernie has a shop to buy cheap guitars which would save transporting mine.

The world's first triangle-oriented band. If I'm counting correctly that's three triangle players.
Does that qualify it as a steel band?

I'm pretty good on the bodhran, but that won't be much use next to an electric guitar so I might not bother to bring it. Guess I'll have to just spectate.

Ross I can teach you everything I know i.e. not that much - although I play piano as well (for which I actually had lessons) so know a fair bit about music theory... but you'll need to get hold of a guitar so you can practice. Not sure if you can get one out there. Would also recommend a teach-yourself-guitar book or DVD to get the really basic stuff
