 • Im in Fernie Now - Unbelievable Conditions
 Hi everyone.
Just to let you know the conditions here at fernie are awsome they rock! I've been here since the 5th of January and have boarded every day.
The snow is amazing it just keeps on falling its been snowing for about 48 hours and still going. Its amazing.
The runs are the best ive been on and ive boarded for 5 years all around the world.
Fernie offers something for everyone.
Slow narrow runs, Tree runs thick with thigh high powder (my favourite), Steep runs, Jumps the lot.
I wake up every morning feeling like a kid on chrstmas morning its superb!
The town itself is really cool its very small towny so everyone is so helpfull and friendly they have lots of sayings but my favourite is Awsome dude!! i even heard a 70 year old lady in the supermarket say "these are Awsome bananas"
Would you get that at home in England? I doubt it.This place is something else.
Anyway enough from me i've been meaning to write this since i first got on the snow but have been pre-occupied with having fun on the slopes!
Look forward to meeting you all not long now!!
Take it easy
Ji

 • Another Update
Hi Guys another update (its that time again!!)
I apologise if i mumble on or there are any spelling mistakes i have used all my energy in boarding today.
Had another awsome days boarding had fresh snow again last night got up early as usual and hit the first chair lift as to get those fresh tracks (paradise)
To my suprise most of the resort was closed apart from a few runs as they were blasting most of the bowls as part of the avalanche control as there is too much snow and is unsafe in parts. ( i thought you could never get too much snow! )
As for the Accomodation its good im staying 5 minutes away from the old grocery store in a big house that 7 of us are sharing it has plenty of room quite cool and cosy. The Old Gorcery Store is a palace i love it. Im actually writing this post from here as its so cool has a pool table, table football and chillout area, I have seen lots of parties happening here.
Apparently the guys that are here are going to be moved about as soon as the course starts so who knows i may be sharing with some of you guys. (Hope you dont snore!! )
My advice to all of you guys is if you enjoy your alcahol or ciggarettes then stock up at the duty free as they can be very expensive here thats if you can get them at all.
Also bring an English to Canadian plug converter dont do as i have done and bring an american! ok i know im a dur!!
Anyway im gonna have to go im getting tired gotta get up early for another amazing days boarding if theres any questions or you would like to know anything please dont hesitate to contact me either reply to this forum or you can e-mail me at jistanton@hotmail.com
Take ot easy you guys
Not long now
Cant wait to meet you all

Good to hear it's everything we're hoping for! I'm stuck in the UK for another week yet (think I'm the last out?!) and starting to panic about packing etc.
What do you mean about the plug converters? Everything I've read says that Canada uses the standard American two-flat-prong sockets...?
Does anyone know better?

Check out the baggage excesses on the Air Canada web site. Price per kilo is extortionate. Don't forget that it'll probably be cheaper to buy certain things (e.g. shampoo) out there than to pay the extra per kilo to Air Canada to ship them...

 I checked on this page
http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelinfo/airport/baggage/excessbaggage.html
and i'm guessing we are hospitality travellers not first class, so
Within Limit
Overweight (51-70lbs) $35/$25 $35/$25
Oversized (62-115in) $35/$25 $35/$25
Oversized and Overweight $70/$50 $70/$50
I'm guessing that im overwieght and oversized haha so thats 70 canadian dollars, but i think i could be pushing up to and over 70lbs, with 2 pairs of skis and a board.
